QUETTA: Four persons were killed and 20 others were injured in a bomb blast on the Chakkar Khan Road near the vegetable market in Sibi district on Sunday.
District Police Officer (DPO) Anwar Khetran said unidentified men had attached an explosive device to a motorcycle which went off when the market was full of buyers. The blast left at least four people dead and 20 others injured.
The injured were rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Sibi, where five of the injured were stated to be in precarious condition. Shops and vehicles around the blast site sustained damage.
Police and law enforcement agencies teams reached the site and cordoned off the area. Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have condoled the deaths in a roadside explosion in Sibi on Sunday morning.
The prime minister, condemning the incident, sought a report from the interior minister in this regard. He directed for the provision of best available medical treatment to the injured. He said that terrorists through their coward acts could not deter the nation from their fight against terrorism. He said that the nation stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the armed forces and was united to root out terrorism from the country.
President Mamnoon Hussain, Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan, Punjab CM, JI chief Sirajul Haq, PTI chief Imran Khan and chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Maulana Fazlur Rehman also condemned the incident.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch also condemned the Sibi blast and called it a cowardly act aimed at causing fear among the citizens.According to a statement, the Balochistan chief minister expressed deep grief over the loss of precious lives and said that the terrorists could not cause fear among the people by perpetrating such cowardly acts. He directed the quarters concerned for ensuring the best facilities to the injured and taking concrete measures to bring the culprits to justice.
