Nawaz performs ground-breaking in Gilgit today

ISLAMABAD: In yet another leap forward towards building the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) at a faster pace, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will perform the ground-breaking ceremony of about 2,000 kilometer Pakistan-China Optical Fibre Cable in Gilgit today (Thursday).
The construction of optical fibre cable would be an essential part of the CPEC and it would mark another important step towards completion of the project. It would link China with Gwadar through Islamabad. The army will be supervising the construction of fibre cable. It would be completed with the most sophisticated material and provide the best service to the users.
Some federal ministers will also company the prime minister. The prime minister will be visiting Gilgit with a hectic schedule, as he will also meet members of the Gilgit-Baltistan cabinet, members of legislative assembly and Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman.
It would be his fourth visit to the GB ever-since the establishment of the PML-N government in the GB. He has visited Gilgit-Baltistan six times in three years after assuming the federal government.
Nawaz, who has special interest in the development of GB, would be having a day-long trip to review development activities in the area. He will administer oath to the newly- elected members of the GB Council. He will chair the maiden meeting of the council and address it.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will also visit Swat the following day (Friday). He will inaugurate the Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital (NSKHS). The NSKH Swat has been constructed at Sangota adjacent to Mingora, the headquarters of Swat as it is a state-of-the-art kidney hospital made by the Punjab Hospital Trust, headed by Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar.
The total cost of the project is Rs800 million.The Nawaz Sharif Kidney Hospital, Swat, is 110-bed hospital with 14 dialysis machines, two operation theatres, one CT scanner, one X-ray machine, one lithotripter, with a state of art pathology lab and blood bank.
