LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board has removed senior manager Wahab Riaz, managed Mansoor Rana and selector Abdur Razzaq. Wahab, who was also part of the selection committee, had been accused of influencing team selection.

Wahab rejected the accusation as “baseless” and emphasised that the selection process was free of any individual pressure. The decision to remove the three came after Pakistan’s underwhelming performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team’s failure to advance beyond the group stage prompted this decision.

The PCB cited poor discipline and a negative dressing room atmosphere as reasons for their dismissal. Wahab took to social media platform ‘X’ to express his stance on the matter, stating that his vote could not have outweighed the collective decision of six committee members. He said all proceedings were documented and that he would provide a comprehensive response soon.
