93 power theft cases detected

FAISALABAD: On the special directives of the Ministry of Water and Power and Fesco Chief Executive Officer Rashid Ahmad Aslam, a campaign against power pilferage is in full swing in the Fesco region.
During the month of May, 93 power theft cases were detected and applications have been lodged to different police stations for registration of FIRs against the power thieves. Of them, 18 FIRs have been registered against the power pilferers. The power pilferers were stealing electricity through direct wire, hole in meter and other methods.
During the door-to-door checking in eight districts of the Fesco region, 1,915 consumers were caught red-handed while stealing electricity. They were also issued detection bills of Rs 12.17 million. Of them, Rs 2.22 million fine has been recovered from 360 consumers. Meanwhile, Fesco CEO Rashid Ahmad Aslam appealed to the consumers to inform about the power pilferage on hotline of the Ministry for Water and Power 051-9103888 or to the sub-division concerned.
