PHEC chief for setting up academy for teachers

FAISALABAD: Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Dr Nizamuddin Saturday floated an idea of establishing an academy for teachers on the pattern of Military and Civil Service academies to improve their knowledge and skills.
Addressing a concluding session of the participants of a 5-day in-service short term training’ at GC Women University. The PHEC chairman said it is an unfortunate situation that our students are not being given good jobs despite their degrees. He said it is imperative to convert them into skilled youths through technical education. He urged teachers to give full attention to their profession and equip the new generation with moral and modern education. He said teachers should communicate new ideas to their students by through simple questions. He announced Rs 4 million for students’ career council in the varsity. VC Prof Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi stressed the need of imparting quality education to students in educational institutions. Course coordinator Dr Nighat Bhatti also spoke. The course participants were also given certificates.
