Moving scenes as Turbat terror attack victims buried

QUETTA/MITHI/BAHAWALPUR: As the 20 labourers killed in the Turbat terror attack were laid to rest in their native areas on Sunday, Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti forwarded an initial report to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the incident.
According to sources, the report suggested that the Levies personnel deployed for the security purpose had failed to protect the labourers.On the other hand, the police have registered a case against Allah Nazar Baloch, chief of banned Balochistan Liberation front (BLF), and his accomplices under the anti-terrorism laws for the brutal killings.
Earlier, Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik had ordered the constitution of a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the incident. Meanwhile, five members of a family killed in the Turbat attack were laid to rest in their native village Chavanhar in Tharparkar. The bodies were first airlifted to Hyderabad and then shifted to Islamkot via road.
Their bodies were received by Tharparkar DC Asif Jamil. Among the martyrs, Sawabdar and Majnoon were brothers, while others were Majeed, Karro and Mitho.A large number of people, including lawmakers and officials, were present at their funeral prayers. They expressed their heartfelt sympathy with the bereaved families and said the whole nation was united against terrorism, adding that anti-state elements would never succeed in their hideous agenda.
They called upon the authorities concerned to provide the best possible help to the bereaved families.Similarly, two cousins – Aslam, 20, and Ayub, 22 – were laid to rest at the Haji Salman Mangwana village of Badin. Local MPA and a large number of people attended their funeral prayers.
In Sadiqabad tehsil of Rahim Yar Khan, another 13 victims were laid to rest in their native villages amid disappointment as no Punjab government official or local legislators were present on the occasion.
The funeral prayers of six victims were offered at Gulab Chowk near Chak 202, six at Shahpur and one at a village located on National highway near Kot Subzal.On the other hand, security forces have decided to conduct a grand operation in Makran Division of Balochistan.
More than 3,000 Rangers, FC and local law-enforcement agencies personnel will take part in the operation to be carried out under the supervision of FC director general.Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen Sunday attacked a convoy of security forces when it was heading towards the Uchh gas field from Dera Murad Jamali.According to reports, one of the attackers was killed in exchange of fire with the security forces near Sohbatpur, while three others fled the scene.
