Jhang EDO F&P asked to share info
of log books of official vehicles

JHANG: The Punjab Information Commission has issued a notice to the Jhang EDO Finance and Planning to share information about log books of official vehicles being used by the department officers.
According to the notification issued from the Punjab Information Commission, a citizen Raza Ali had filed an application with the EDO on Dec 10, 2015, seeking information about log books of vehicles being used by the officers of the department and requested to allow the inspection of log books of the vehicles under Section 10 subsection 5 of the Punjab Transparency and Right to Information Act 2013. However, the department did not respond within the stipulated time. After that, applicant Ali Raza filed complaint to the PIC for action against the EDO F&P. Tacking notice of the complaint, the PIC directed the EDO F&P to provide the required information till May 16, 2016. Information Commissioner Mukhtar Ahmad Ali directed in his letter that it was legal right of any citizen to get information from any public bodies. When contacted, EDO F&P Tariq Luk said that compliance would be made after obtaining permission from the DCO regarding releasing official financial record.
