DI Khan lawyers want colleagues’ murderers nabbed
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The legal fraternity on Tuesday asked the government to arrest the accused involved in the killing of two colleagues or else they would launch a province-wide protest campaign.
Speaking at a press conference here, Syed Abid Hussain Bukhari advocate said the scope of protest would be extended to the whole province if the accused involved in assassination of their colleagues were not arrested by May 14.
President District Bar Association Akhtar Hussain Qureshi, members Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council Sardar Hashmat Nawaz Saduzai, Malik Tahir Waseem and others were also present.
He said the boycott of the district and civil court proceedings would continue. He added that several persons had been killed in acts of target killings in Dera Ismail Khan but none of the accused could be arrested so far.
Terming the non-arrest of the accused as incompetency of the district administration and police, he said the people in the district were in a state of fear.
He said the government and officials of concerned departments give empty assurances but did nothing to arrest the elements behind the killing of innocent people. They said that criminals escaped justice due to faulty investigation of police. The two lawyers were killed in Dera Ismail Khan a few days back.
