Siraj extends campaign against corruption to Fata
ISLAMABAD: Calling for across the board accountability of corrupt elements and investigation against all those whose names are mentioned in Panama Papers, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer on Monday announced to extend his party’s ‘Corruption Free Pakistan’ movement to Fata and hold train march from Khyber to Karachi.
“The investigations against Prime Minister’s family and the elite class including politicians of Government and opposition parties whose names are included in Panama Leaks, should be held through a commission headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan,” demanded Sirajul Haq while addressing a press conference after a meeting of central JI leaders here.
Other central leaders including Liaquat Baloch, Mian Muhammad Aslam, Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, Farid Ahmad Paracha, Sahibzada Tariqullah MNA, Amirul Azeem, Hafiz Salman Butt, Shahid Shamsi, Zubair Farooq Khan and others attended the meeting.
The JI top leader said the next public meeting against corruption would be held in Bajour Agency on May 14, at Kohat on May 16 and train march would be undertaken from Khyber to Karachi on May 23.
The JI leaders would also address a public meeting in connection with ongoing campaign on May 29. “Our countrywide campaign against corruption is not aimed at doing away with democratic system and playing havoc with the Constitution,” he said.
He said that besides holding public meetings and train march, the JI would also move a bill against corruption in the National Assembly shortly.Sirajul Haq said some political parties would not be able to find candidates for the next general elections if fair and transparent accountability without any discrimination is carried out.
Sirajul Haq regretted that an elite class of few families has been dominating democratic and political system of the country and they are considered above accountability, law and Constitution adding that 200 million people of the country are victim of economic terrorism.
