Siraj criticises policies of federal govt on Fata
ISLAMABAD: Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the federal government was pushing the tribal people towards terrorism by depriving them of education and other basic facilities.
He was addressing the members of the All Fata Teachers Association staging a sit-in in front of National Press Club Islamabad for the last over two weeks to press for their demands including up-gradation.
Sirajul Haq said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had upgraded thousands of teachers whereas the federal government had not up-graded teachers in Fata who were only during the last five years despite repeated promises.
He said about 1.2 million Fata students were being affected because of teachers’ protest but the federal government was yet to remove their grievances. He said that lakhs of IDPs were living in camps away from their homes and the government seemed to have no timeframe for their return.
The JI chief said that the people’s representatives from Fata had given some proposals regarding the CPEC but the federal government had not given any response so far. Sirajul Haq said the Fata people wanted an administrative system that was in line with their traditions and the Shariah. He said the government had promised administrative reforms in Fata including abolition of the FCR but none of these promises had been fulfilled.
