Backward Bahawalpur

At the time of Independence, Bahawalpur was one of the richest states of the Subcontinent. Today, it stands far behind in development due to the apathetic attitude of the government.
There is only one university catering to the needs of almost 6.5 million people. The area faces massive loadshedding despite the construction of the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park. The sanitation system has almost collapsed. Due to unavailability of job opportunities, educated younger people are leaving the area in droves. The government should announce development schemes for Bahawalpur.
