Woman among three killed in Haripur ‘clash’
HARIPUR: Three persons including a woman were killed in a clash during an operation in Pind Gakhra village here on Wednesday, the police said.
Officials of the Khanpur Police Station said that one of the security agencies’ personnel was also killed during resistance by the family that allegedly had links with a banned militant organisation. The security personnel stormed the house of Siddique, a village council nazim, on receiving information that some alleged terrorists were present there.
However, the cops alleged that family members of Siddique resorted to firing during the raid. They added that Siddique’s brother Javed, his wife Naheed Akhtar and their son Ahmad Javed were killed in the exchange of fire.
Besides death of a security official, whose name was not shared with media, a policeman Farhan Shah sustained injuries in the clash.It was learnt that Javed was an employee of Heavy Mechanical Complex Taxila. The police said the operation was carried out to arrest the alleged terrorists having links with a banned outfit based in Afghanistan.
