PML-F leader arrested in Khairpur raid
SUKKUR: PML-F leader Advocate Tahir Imtiaz Phulpoto was once again arrested here on Sunday. The police and Rangers took him from his house, while the Khairpur police said Tahir Imtiaz, along with other persons, had been arrested in FIR No 98/2016 under Sections 452, 395, 448, 511-427-506/2 on the complaint of Muhammad Aslam Arain who stated that Tahir Imtiaz, along with about 30 accused, had committed dacoity, attempted to occupy the Dilshad Manzil, the residence of the former ruler of Khairpur State, and looted antiques. Police said following the complaint they, along with Rangers, rushed and took action against him.
Meanwhile, former MPA and chief of Phulpota tribe, Sardar Imtiaz Husain Phulpoto, addressed a press conference. He said that he and his family were living at the Dilshad Manzil and every citizen of Khairpur was a witness to the fact. He said in 1998, the then prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and other dignitaries had visited him at the Dilshad Manzil. He said the former ruler of the State Mir Ali Murad Talpur, with his consent had handed over the Dilshad Manzil when it was in ruins and later he, with the consent of Mir Ali Murad Talpur, had developed it by spending millions of rupees.
He said the registered FIR against his son was based on victimisation. He said the police and the Rangers raided the Dilshad Manzil after midnight on Saturday and took his son Tahir Imtiaz and dispossessed his family.
He announced to stage sit-in in front of the Khairpur Press Club from Monday against the alleged barbarism. He further said that he and his son were being pressurized to vacate the Dilshad Manzil. He also said that his son was kept at some unknown place and his life was in danger. He said that he was approaching higher authorities for justice and protection to the life of his son.
