MULTAN: Traders Saturday lauded the establishment of an industrial estate in Rahimyar Khan and urged the government to ensure facilities to this industrial cluster as soon as possible.
In a statement, MCCI president Fareed Mughis Sheikh, senior vice-president Atta Shafi Tanvir Sheikh and vice-president Maj (retd) Tariq Khan said this new industrial estate in south Punjab would attract foreign investors and would give expansion to the industrialisation and boost trade and economic activities in the province.
They said the initiative would help businessmen of Punjab to promote their businesses and it would create thousands of new jobs. The MCCI office-bearers urged the government to provide sufficient electricity to Rahimyar Khan industrial estate. They said industrial estates and Special economic zones (SEZs) should be established in Multan, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and other areas to meet economic challenges as these industrial estates and economic zones would strengthen industrial base.
“We have to take certain steps to divert investments to industrial sector. There is a dire need to have a specific industrial policy to encourage the private sector representatives to start vigorous industrialization. It will surely help to a great deal in generating employment opportunities,” the MCCI office-bearers added.
