Youth termed real asset
From Our Correspondent
SIALKOT: Executive Director National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema Thursday said the youth are a real asset to the country.
Addressing local businessmen and industrialists at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Cheema said the youth could play a key role in the progress and prosperity of the country in future.
He said ever increasing unemployment could easily lead the youth to hopelessness, desperation and crime, saying that provision of proper employment to the youth was the only way to save them from anarchy and disorder.
He said about a hundred years ago the Western nations faced the same issue of increased number of unemployed youth and as a solution they promoted the technical and vocational education and as a result achieved the goal of industrial progress.
He said skilled youngsters are valuable resource than oil or gold, and such a resource could effectively help in permanently ending the unemployment and lifting the huge burden of the foreign debts or the loans.
Cheema said the NAVTTC was busy in providing the youth of the country the demand driven training to enable them to get respectable jobs.
He stressed the need to popularise the awareness about usefulness of technical and vocational training.
He urged upon the local business community to construct some state-of-the-art institutions to provide training of certain skills for the progress of their own respective industries.
SCCI Vice- Presidents Sarfraz Butt and Ehtsham Gillani, Kh Khawer Anwar, Dr Khurram Anwar, Dr Aslam Dar, Syed Zafaryab Shah, Shafique-ur-Rehman, Mohsin Gull, Malik Ashraf, Mir Alamgir Meyer and others also spoke.
