QUETTA: Corps Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Nasir Khan Janjua on Monday said that the people of Balochistan wanted peace and progress and stressed that there should be an end to the killing of brothers and sisters on the name of Jihad and independence.
He said the Pakistan Day was the day of getting rid of slavery, refusing to be a third-grade citizen in the Sub-continent and a beginning of our own identity. He was addressing a ceremony held in connection with the Pakistan Day at the Askari Park here on Monday.
The event was attended by IG FrontierCorps Balochistan, Maj-General Sher Afgan,
IG Police Balochistan, Amlesh Khan, provincial ministers, senior officials and a large number of people.
The commander Southern Command said that Pakistan came into being after great sacrifices and we should hold self-accountability. “We should stop killing our own brothers and a self proclaimed ‘war for independence’. Also we need to change our behaviour and should act upon the teachings of Islam. We want progress in Balochistan and the people will deal with the elements wanting to create law and order situation in the province.” The people of Balochistan had supported the efforts to maintain peace in the province.
Lt Gen Nasir Khan Janjua said that our forefathers had waged a relentless struggle to get a separate homeland for the Muslims. “We should forget the past to make our future better as the country is internally damaged. External elements have divided us,” he said.
He said the people of Balochistan are patriotic and democratic as local government elections were held here before other provinces.He admitted that the masses were the real power of law enforcement agencies.He said that the people of Balochistan wanted peace and development, adding that killing of own brothers in the name of ‘Jihad’ and freedom should be stopped.
