UoP files contempt of court petition with PHC

PESHAWAR: The University of Peshawar (UoP) on Tuesday filed contempt of court petition in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against deputy commissioner Nowshera for forcibly locking the Botanical Garden and Centre of Bio-Diversity of the university in Azakhel area in Nowshera district.
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on April 20 had stopped the Nowshera district government from proceeding further on an order through which the lease of a vast piece of land of the botanical garden of the university was cancelled and the varsity administration was directed to hand it over to the government.Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and Justice Irshad Qaisar had directed the Nowshera district nazim and deputy commissioner to maintain status quo on the issue.
