KARACHI: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Saturday said that his party was not in favour of a military operation against any political party.
He said the recovery of Nato weapons during operation in Karachi is a big question mark.
Addressing a press conference here, the JI chief said that key facts have come to surface as result of targeted operation in Karachi. He said that no particular political party should be targeted, adding that the operation should only be against extortionists, terrorists and criminals.
Siraj demanded re-elections in Karachi, as the plight of Karachiites has been increased due to fake mandate that came out after the general elections held in May-2013.
He stressed upon resolving the issues of Karachiites which include shortage of portable water, loadshedding and transport.
“The people of Karachi want permanent peace through effective strategy of the federal government,” he added.
The JI chief termed the establishment of the judicial commission to probe rigging allegations a success of all democratic forces.
Online adds from Islamabad: Sirajul Haq said Pakistan came into being in the name of Islam and doesn’t need any dictation from the United Nations or European Union (EU) over the matter of execution of murderers.
Talking to this news agency, the JI chief said societies stand devastated wherein murderers are not punished as per injunctions of Almighty Allah. He said the UN and West consider capital punishment as violation of human rights. “We want to tell them our forefathers had rendered huge sacrifices for enforcement of the system enjoined by Almighty Allah in this country,” he said.
“Pakistan is facing the menace of terrorism and other miseries because we have sidelined the commandments of Allah,” he said.
To a question, he said government should take action against the MQM and punish all the elements who have ruined the peace of Karachi.
