2 murder accused arrested thru Interpol

MULTAN: City police have arrested two accused, who were allegedly involved in different heinous crimes including murder, through the help of the Interpol.
It was disclosed by SSP Operation Atif Ikram while addressing a press conference at the Police Headquarters here on Saturday. He told that the arrest of eight more criminals through Interpol was in the pipeline. CPO Azhar Akram had made the all strategy to approach the Interpol, he said and added that Punjab IGP Mushtaq Sukhera, the Punjab Home Department and the Interior and Foreign ministries made efforts for approaching the Interpol. The SSP said that accused Iftikhar alias Mehnga along with his accomplices entered the house of Saeed Ahmed at Baghwala three years ago and snatched Rs 1 million from him. The accused allegedly shot Saeed Ahmed dead on resistance and fled, he added. The Qadirpur Rawan police had registered a case against accused Iftikhar alias Mehnga under sections 302/397 on May 4, 2013, the SSP told. Accused Asif Khokhar had allegedly murdered Hakim Ali during a marriage ceremony at Mohallah Kakarwala and fled, he added. The Budhla Sant police registered a case against accused Asif Khokhar under sections 302/397 on Nov 27, 2013, he maintained. However, he added, both the accused fled to Saudi Arabia. The SSP operation said that CPO Azhar Akram wrote to the Punjab IGP for the arrest of the accused from Saudi Arabia. Later, the Punjab Home Department and the Interior and Foreign ministries contacted the Interpol Headquarters in Paris, he continued. The Interpol Headquarters issued red notices against the both alleged murderers, he maintained. The Interpol authorities approached to the Saudi Arabia authorities and helped in the arrest of the accused murderers, he added. A special squad of the Saudi Arabian authorities brought the accused back to Pakistan in a special chartered plane and handed over the accused to the Interpol officials in Islamabad, he added. Later, a police team took the accused in custody and brought them back to Multan, the SSP concluded.
