Siraj praises COAS for acting against corrupt elements
LAHORE: JI ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said the army chief has set an example by acting against the corrupt elements in armed forces and now rulers should also follow suit by offering themselves for accountability.
Addressing a ceremony at Mansoora Masjid Thursday afternoon, he said on the Panama Leaks issue the nation would accept only the enquiry commission headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan. He said the talk of a parliamentary commission was simply a time-gaining tactic as such a commission would not access to the international institutions.
Sirajul Haq said political parties should weed out corrupt elements within their ranks and said JI offered itself for this task. He declared the prime minister would neither be allowed to hide behind a commission of his choice nor the matter would be allowed to die out itself.
The JI chief said the federal finance minister had admitted that Pakistanis working abroad were remitting more than Rs 18 billion to the country annually. He said it was most shameful that whereas the overseas Pakistanis were earning foreign exchange for the country, the rulers were transferring national wealth to foreign countries.
He announced that JI would stage a big rally against corruption in Peshawar on April 23 and in Lahore on April 24 and urged the masses to join the rally in maximum numbers so that the rulers could not escape accountability.
Meanwhile, new Iranian ambassador in Pakistan, Mehdi Hunar Dost, called Sirajul Haq at Mansoora. During the meeting, Sirajul Haq said the war between different Muslim countries was being fanned by Islam’s enemies and stressed that Iran should take the lead in putting out the fire of war. He suggested Muslim world should unite on the one point agenda of wiping out tyranny and injustice. The Iranian envoy said that every effort was being made to remove the misgivings between Iran and Pakistan.
