DCO vows achieving wheat procurement target

GUJRANWALA: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Muhammad Amir Jaan Thursday said all arrangements were completed to achieve wheat procurement target of 221,000 metric ton in the district.
Addressing a meeting in his office to review arrangements of wheat procurement drive, the DCO said three committees and 18 procurement centres had also been set up to achieve the target.
He said interests of farmers would be safeguarded and payments to them for their produce at fixed rate would be ensured.
DO Coordination Rani Hafsa Kanwal, EDO agriculture Sardar Muhammad Akbar, DD Food Sharjil and other officers also attended the meeting.
The DCO said all necessary facilities would be provided to cultivators at procurement centres and complaint cells for farmers would be established and their phone numbers would also be placed at all purchase centres.
He directed the relevant officers to achieve 50 per cent purchase target within first ten days, 30 per cent in next ten days and 20 per cent in last ten days positively.
