HARIPUR: A murder convict was hanged to death in Haripur Central Prison on Thursday.
Imtiaz Ahmad, a resident of village Khaki in Mansehra district, was convicted in a murder case of a man in 2005.
According to jail sources, district and sessions judge Mansehra awarded the capital punishment to the convict which was subsequently upheld by the high and Supreme Court.
The convict was hanged at 5:30am. The prison authorities postponed the execution of another condemned prisoner Muhammad Humayun, a resident of Mardan after his family reached a compromise with the rival party. Humayun was accused of killing his father in 2006. The brother of the convict pardoned him.
