GUJRANWALA: Hundreds of contract employees of the PHA staged demonstrations in front of the minister’s house and the DCO office for sacking them without any intimation.
The protesters gathered in front of Federal Minister for Trade Khurram Dastgir Khan’s residence and chanted slogans the against government and MPA/PHA Chairman Taufiq Butt.
Later, the protesters marched to the DCO office where they also staged a demonstration. They alleged that the PHA chairman was making new appointments while about 250 old employees, who served for a long period for the department and made efforts for beautification of the city, were being dismissed from service without any solid reason. They demanded their immediate restoration.
