Faisalabad reach Nishan-i-Haider hockey semis

KARACHI: Faisalabad’s 2-1 victory over Gujranwala completed the semi-finals lineup of the Riaz Mehar round of 11th Nishan-i-Haider Hockey Tournament at the Motiullah Stadium in Bahawalpur on Tuesday.
Multan, Flying Horse Club and Sargodha have already booked their berths in the semi-finals.
Gujranwala had to beat their opponents by a margin of four goals, while for Faisalabad even a draw was enough to sent them through to the semis.
Faisalabad’s Asad Iqbal scored the first goal in 26h minute. Mohammad Arsalan levelled for Gujranwala in the 35th minute. Mohammed Usman scored Faisalabad’s second goal in the 60th minute. Munawwar and Anil Khan were the field umpires.
