Awareness drive to be launched to promote tax culture

GUJRANWALA: Commissioner Gujranwala Division Muhammad Asif Monday said tax collection and provision of basic amenities to citizens is the responsibility of the state.
Addressing a meeting in connection with Tax Day, the Commissioner said through an awareness campaign tax culture will be promoted throughout the country.
He said all government officers and officials of relevant departments should honestly perform their duties to achieve targets.
DCO Muhammad Amir Jaan, Commissioner Punjab Revenue Authority Imran Hai, MPAs Abdul Rauf Mughal, Akmal Saif Chatha, Director Excise Shakeel-ur-Rehman and other officers and traders also attended the meeting.
The Commissioner said it is the basic responsibility of the government to spend collected tax amount on public welfare.
He said sensing problems faced by traders and citizens, the government had removed flaws to a larger extent and the Punjab government had promoted transparent culture in the province. Position holder students of Tax Day speech contest were also given prizes and shields.
