Man kills sister a day before marriage
From Our Correspondent
FAISALABAD: A man killed his sister for refusing marriage at Chak 521/GB, Dijkot, on Saturday.
The marriage of Sumaira Bibi was scheduled for today (April 10). On the day of the incident, she refused to tie a knot. It infuriated Umar Qayyum and he allegedly shot his sister Sumaria dead and ran away in the presence of dozens of relatives and neighbours, who had assembled in the house in connection with the marriage arrangements. Police are investigating.
RALLY: A number of local traders, businessmen and councillors took out a rally against registration of an alleged bogus case against businessman and councillor Pervaiz Kamoka of the PML-N in Civil Lines police station.
They raised slogans and demanded immediate withdrawal of the case against their leader, which they termed bogus. They demanded action against the Civil Hospital doctors for registering a fake case. Later, the protesters staged a demonstration at Zila Council Chowk.
On the other hand, the young doctors of the DHQ and Allied hospitals also staged a demonstration against Pervaiz Kamoka. The doctors of both government hospitals on Friday observed one hour token strike to express their resentment against the alleged manhandling of the doctors by Pervaiz Kamoka and his companions.
Young Doctors Association president Dr Maroof and Pakistan Medical Association secretary Dr Muhammad Irfan demanded arrest of Pervaiz Kamoka on the charge of manhandling the doctors.
