Flying Horse, Multan win in Nishan-i-Haider Hockey
KARACHI: Flying Horse and Multan won their matches in the Riaz Mehar Round of Nishan-i-Haider Hockey Tournament at the Motiullah Stadium on Friday.
Flying Horse beat Dera Ghazi Khan 3-0 and Multan defeated Hyderabad 4-1. Flying Horse dominated the proceedings since the start of the match. Their forwards made a number of moves but DG Khan defended their fort well.
In the 28th minute, Qasim and Usman made a productive move from their area. Usman dodged a defender in the circle to score the first goal for his team.
In the 40th minute Kashif sprinted from his area to hit a cross on which Shaharyar neatly deflected the ball into the net. Junaid scored the third goal for his team in the 50th minute. DG Khan missed two open chances to score. They even failed to convert four penalty corners.
Multan opened their account against Hyderabad through a field goal by Zeeshan Alamdar on Hassan Raza’s pass in the 10th minute. In the 36th minute Umer Balouch struck a field goal on a pass from Arsalan Ghani.
Zeeshan scored his second field goal in the 41st minute to give his team a 3-0 lead. Three minutes later, Saran Bin Qamar made it 4-0 through a beautiful field goal on Zeeshan’s pass. Noman Sadiq converted a penalty corner in the 48th minute to score the only goal for Hyderabad.
