From Our Correspondent
HAFIZABAD: Lawyers observed strike against police here on Tuesday.
The lawyers led by District Bar Association president Muhammad Farooq Khokhar and general secretary Rai Waqar also took out a rally from the District Judicial Complex. Later, the protesting lawyers staged a demonstration in front of the DPO Office. They were chanting slogans against police. They were also carrying placards and banners.
The lawyers alleged that FIRs were not being registered at police stations. They further alleged that police were defying court orders. They said that the situation had forced them to observe strike and take out a rally. They demanded immediate transfer of the district police officer.
On the other hand, police denied the allegations levelled by the lawyers. The police alleged that the lawyers were trying to blackmail them. The police said that they were working according to the rules and FIRs were being registered according to the rules.
