LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday rejected PTI chief Imran Khan’s petition seeking suspension of National Assembly Speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.The PTI chairman had filed an application with the ECP demanding the Speaker’s suspension on the grounds that a case of election rigging in Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s constituency, NA-122, was under hearing in an election tribunal. On Thursday, the ECP rejected Khan’s application, stating that the commission has no authority to suspend the Speaker before any judgment by the concerned tribunal, which is the only authority in this regard.
