SUKKUR: Provincial Minister for Food, Syed Nasir Husain Shah, said on Monday no negligence and unfairness by officials would be tolerated in distribution of wheat procurement material.
He said that fair and transparent wheat procurement process is a top priority of the Sindh government. He said he would monitor the procurement process and complaint cells have been established in this regard. He advised officials to ensure fair distribution of wheat procurement by omitting their old tradition of favourtisim and facilitation to irrelevant persons. The minister said in this regard he would not accept any political pressure, so officials should not accept any political pressure. He said there is surplus wheat crop due to a ban on cultivation of paddy and production of wheat was more than the previous season. Commissioner Sukkur on the occasion briefed him on wheat procurement centers.
Meanwhile, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah also attended the wheat procurement meeting in Sukkur and reiterated upon the minister to address the concerns of growers and ensure equal wheat procurement policy for all and also ensure coordination between food inspectors and the revenue department, because non-cooperation between these departments would create issues.
