12 officers booked on corruption charges

GUJRANWALA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment has registered cases against four officers of Qila Didar and Aroop towns and eight building inspectors on corruption charges.
The action was taken on an application of the Local Government director in which he pointed out that corruption complaints against Qila and Aroop towns had been increased and there were sufficient grounds to take legal action against corrupt elements of the two towns. In the light of the letter, the ACE registered cases against Aroop Town TO (Revenue) Raja Akhtar Iqbal, TO (P&C) Umar Farooq and building inspectors Azhar Cheema, Qalb-e-Abbas, Arif Tufail, Muhammad Waris Malik and Malik Safdar, Qila Didar Town TO (Revenue) Abdul Haroon, TO (P&C) Sarfraz Ahmad and building inspectors Ejaz Alvi, Muhammad Akram and Muhammad Javed. After registering cases, inquiries have been started against the accused officials.
In another case, the ACE registered a case against Patwari Manzoor Ahmad. In his application, Muhammad Shahbaz alleged that the Ferozwala circle Patwari had transferred his property to a man on bogus documents.

GUJRANWALA: Two passersby were killed in a post-NA-101 by-election clash between PML-N and PTI workers here on Wednesday night.
The Ijaz group took out a rally to celebrate the victory of PML-N candidate Justice (retd) Iftikhar Ahmed Cheema in the by-election. The rally participants were passing through the house of PTI worker Ansar of Nasir group when he along with other workers tried to stop them from beating drums and chanting slogans. It led to an exchange of hot words between them. In the meantime, the two groups opened fire at each other. As a result, passersby Faryad Masih and Shan were killed on the spot.
On Thursday, relatives of the two deceased persons staged a demonstration at Alam Chowk and chanted slogans against police for not arresting the accused persons. Meanwhile, police have arrested three accused Nawab, Ansar and Nawaz.
