Tribute paid to Nusrat Bhutto

MULTAN: The PPP South Punjab chapter on Wednesday paid rich tribute to Begum Nusrat Bhutto on her 78th birth anniversary here.
They paid tribute during a function organised by the PPP Multan City chapter. The function was held in the chair of PPP City president and ex-MPA Usman Bhatti. Speaking on the occasion, PPP South Punjab Information Secretary Khawaja Rizwan Alam said that Begum Nusrat Bhutto fought boldly and courageously in Gen Ziaul Haq era along with thousands of PPP workers for democracy. Begum Nusrat Bhutto made first PPP Women Wing in the country, he added. The PPP Women Wing flourished and progressed under her vibrant and enlightened leadership, he said. Khawaja Rizwan said that after execution of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Begum Nusrat Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed were imprisoned and put under house arrest by Gen Ziaul Haq. She became the leader of the PPP during her exile, he maintained. South Punjab People’s Lawyers Forum president Habibullah Shakir paid a glowing tribute to Begum Nusrat Bhutto and said that her untiring efforts for the PPP at grass-root level made the party strong. Her strong personality as a leader, a mother and a wife would remain a motivating force and a source of inspiration not only for her family but for the entire nation, he added. The other speakers including PPP South Punjab Human Rights Wing president Saleemur Rehman, PSF South Punjab president Arif Shah, Ch Hussain Arian and Saleem Raja also lauded the services of Begum Nusrat Bhutto for the PPP and the country and said that she would be remembered for a long time.
