Full court reference held for retiring PHC judge
PESHAWAR: A full court reference was held here for senior judge of Peshawar High Court, Justice Asadullah Khan Chamkani who would retire on March 20.
Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel, all PHC judges, judicial officers, members of the bar and law officers attended the event.“The honourable judge was driven by a rare sense of duty and ceaselessly worked hard. He made his presence felt through a large number of brilliant judgments on variety of subjects. It sufficiently reflected on his understanding and devotion to the duty,” the chief justice said.
He added that Justice Asadullah Chamkani’s command over judicial diction, clarity of mind and expressions, diligence in application and treatment of facts and law arising in the hearing of cases was a shining experience for them when sitting on the bench with him.
The chief justice said that valuable services of Justice Asadullah Chamkani to the interest and administration of justice would always be remembered. He said Justice Asadullah Chamkani always talked about the ethics and grooming of young lawyers.
Additional Attorney General Syed Muhammad Attique Shah, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advocate General Abdul Lateef Yousafzai and Peshawar High Court Bar Association President Fida Gul paid glowing tributes to the retiring judge for his services.
On the occasion, Justice Asadullah Chamkani thanked the PHC chief justice, judges and lawyers for acknowledging his services. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council Vice-President Tariq Afridi, senior lawyers, judges of subordinate courts also attended the full court reference.
Born into a respectable family in Chamkani village near Peshawar on March 21, 1954, Justice Asadullah Chamkani received his early education from the Government High School, Chamkani. He obtained law degree from Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan in 1974-76.
He was enrolled as an advocate of the lower courts in 1977, the high court in 1979 and Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1993.
He was elevated to the bench as PHC Additional Judge on July 20, 2012.
