Five terrorists killed in encounter near Bahawalpur
BAHAWALPUR: Five terrorists, including two brothers belonging to a banned outfit, were killed in an encounter with the Counterterrorism Department personnel on late Monday night in the Samma Satta police vicinity near the Zakhera overhead bridge.
According to CTD sources, the terrorists were planning to attack security agencies offices and personnel. The sources claimed that hand-grenades, explosives and rifles were recovered from the terrorists. The bodies were shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital after the encounter.
The terrorists were identified as Zahid Mehmood Zaida s/o Muhammad Sharif, resident of Wani Kay Tarr, District Hafizabad; Muhammad Akram s/o Abdul Aziz Mundrani, resident of Basti Mundrani, Taunsa Sharif; Kaleemullah s/o Muhammad Ali Javed, resident of Shah Kot, District Nankana Sahib; Ali Akber s/o Muhammad Ali Javed, resident of Shah Kot, District Nankana Sahib; and Muhammad Tariq s/o Abdul Ghafoor Kamboh, resident of Garhi Shahoo, Lahore.
Notably, when The News contacted the Samma Satta SHO and Bahawalpur (Sadr) DSP Rao Jamshaid, they both said they were not aware of the encounter.However, the encounter FIR has been registered in the CTD Multan Police Station.
