NAWABSHAH: Transporters have refused to reduce fares of buses, coaches and wagons in defiance of an order by the secretary of Road Transport Authority. The transporters are not willing to lower the fares in response to the falling prices of petrol and diesel. A decision about new fares had been taken at a meeting between the transporters and Deputy Commissioner Tahir Hussain Sangi where the transporters had pledged to the deputy commissioner that they would revise the fares within a week. However, the transporters are still charging old fares on all routes.
