No governance in Sindh, says Qureshi
Asks SC to take suo moto notice on Mustafa Kamal’s disclosures; says no governance in Sindh, people looking towards PTI
SUKKUR: Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, along with Haleem Adil Sheikh, addressed a press conference here on Wednesday at the Press Club.
He demanded of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo moto notice of the charges leveled by former city Nazim Karachi, Mustafa Kamal against the MQM chief Altaf Husain. He demanded constitution of a judicial commission over what Mustafa Kamal, Anees Qaimnkhani and former health minister Dr Sagheer Ahmad said in their press conferences and bring the ground realities of their charges before the nation because it is a national issue as they have accused Altaf Hussain of being a RAW agent. On the other hand, it is also an issue of national security, but the government was not bothering to constitute a judicial commission, while it did so over minor issues without losing a single moment.
Qureshi said the PPP and PML-N had apponted Chaudhry Qamar Zaman as chairman of the NAB, but now they were united against him. Their efforts against the NAB indicates another political reconciliation to sabotage the bureau and stop the accountability process.
Qureshi said there is no governance in Sindh nor the writ of law. He said that Rs700 billion were utilized on development of districts of Sindh and Rs280 billions utalised by the TMAs, but no development is visible in Sukkur, Hyderabad and other districts. He said the people of Sindh are deprived of pure drinking water and sanitation. He quoted the figures disclosed by the Sindh government that say there are 6,000 ghost schools of which there is no record, while 30,000 teachers have been appointed but the same Sindh government is declaring them illegal. He said there are 22 Special Assistants and 12 coordinators in Sindh cabinet along with ministers, which is a clear violation of the 18th Amendment.
He said the Sindh High Court is asking officials about the account of Rs14 billion Larkana Package. He said the PPP and MQM had been ruling Sindh but the people of Sindh are leading miserable lives, while the ministers kept availing all the luxurious facilities and accumulating assets through kickbacks. He said the ministers, who did not have their own houses and vehicles, now have luxury vehicles and bungalows.
Qureshi said the people of Sindh are looking towards the PTI and promised that the PTI will rid them of exploiters. He said Asif Ali Zardari is fit and had no medical problem. He asked his party men, who had announced he was sick, then how a sick man was traveling between Dubai and New York He said Asif Ali Zardari is sick only for coming to Pakistan from Dubai. He further said Asif Zardari has self-exiled himself and had no health issue.
Qureshi said the PTI was protesting against the privatization of PIA and is determined to also protest in the joint session of parliament. He demanded accountability should be across the board, not targeted.
