Landmine blast injures farmer in Dera Bugti; police officers survive Quetta explosion
QUETTA: Security forces detained at least nine suspects, including a suicide attacker and three members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Swati group, here on Sunday.Sources said that security forces, on a tip off, raided three different areas of Quetta and held as many as nine suspects.
The detainees belonging to Pishin, Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan were shifted to an unknown location for an investigation. Meanwhile, at least one person sustained injuries in a landmine blast in Jori area of Dera Bugti, officials said.
The blast took place when a farmer, who was watering the fields, put his foot on the landmine injuring him. He was later shifted to the Shaikh Zayed Hospital in critical condition.Dera Bugti has been witnessing violence for years where rebel militant groups are targeting security forces and mineral installments. To add to this, a remote controlled bomb was planted to target a police mobile in Quetta; however, no human loss was reported.
According to the police, the mobile was on a routine round at the Mustang Road when unknown terrorists detonated the bomb placed at the National Highway through a remote control. The blast caused a two feet deep and five feet wide ditch on the road and damaged the frontscreen of the police mobile. The police officers present in the mobile survived miraculously. The BDS sources said that an explosive weighing eight kilogrammes was used for the blast.
