Qureshi dares Fazl to quit govt
MULTAN: PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said if Maulana Fazlur Rahman considers the women protection act passed by the Punjab Assembly against Shariah, he should quit the government.
Talking to the media at Chowk Kumharan Wala here on Tuesday, he said like the Kissan Package, the Tax Amnesty Scheme launched by the government had also failed. Federal Minister Ishaq Dar claimed one million filers, but, in fact, only 2,100 filers were registered.
He said the elected local government representatives were still powerless. They had no funds, no offices. He demanded transfer of powers to the LG representatives. MNA Malik Amir Dogar, Khalid Javed Warraich and Malik Ahmed Hussain Dhair were present on the occasion. Later, Qureshi led a rally to Bosan Adda where he opened a membership enrolment office in PP-200.
Earlier, he chaired a meeting of former organizers from 12 districts of South Punjab in connection with the NA-153 by-poll. The meeting was attended by Amir Dogar, Aun Abbas Bapi, Makhdoom Zain Qureshi, Ijaz Hussain Janjua (Multan), Yasir Arafat (Layyah), Tahir Wahla (Vehari), Pir Zahoor Qureshi (Khanewal), Farzand Ali Gohar (Bahawalpur), Ahmed Dareshak (DG Khan), Nawab Ahmed Khan (Muzaffargarh), Shakeel Niazi (Sahiwal), Farooq Buzdar (Rajanpur), Muzaffar Awan (Bahawalpur), Chaudhry Athar (Okara) and Rao Naseem Hashim (Pakpattan).
