Rehman Malik wants reciprocal goodwill from India
Islamabad
Chairman Senate Committee on Interior Senator Abdul Rehman Malik has termed the FIR lodged by Pakistan in Pathankot incident a diplomatic gesture of goodwill to India.
“However, its legal position per the charter of Interpol raises many questions,” he said, while reacting to the lodging of FIR in Pakistan on Pathankot incident.
“Let us wait for the response by India Prime Minister Narendra Modi whether he orders the lodging of FIR against those Indians including Colonel Purohit who were involved in the heinous act of terrorism when Samjhota Express was attacked on February 18, 2007, killing 65 innocent Pakistanis or not.”
He added that after this FIR every Pakistani appears to be a suspect as it is against someone not named. “If any this kind of FIR was ever lodged in PPP tenure, surly people would have called us 'Traitor' but he thinks we have improved a lot as in FIR it is mentioned that it is being lodged based on the information Indian National Security Adviser had shared with Pakistani authorities,” he said.
Rehman Malik said that he thought mere sharing of few mobile numbers by Indian NSA were not enough information to lodge an FIR. He said earlier against Ajmal Kassab an FIR was lodged Pakistan in PPP's era but after his confessional statement and frequent requests by the Indian government duly forwarded via Interpol.
He said it was high time for the Prime Minister of Pakistan to take up the issue of Samjhota Express attack with his Indian counterpart, asking him to lodge an FIR in the case. "It may be recalled that recently India once again has interrupted the Samjhota Express being apprehensive of the extremists attack on the train," said Malik.
He said diplomatic relations are always based on goodwill and mutual respect. He added that it would be meaningless if Pakistan continues to send good signals while the other side India continues to give the cold shoulder.
Malik said that the Indian premier must change his policy of hate for Pakistan and stop RAW from interfering in Balochistan and in Fata via Afghanistan.
