Looking to make a statement and stand out in a party? Fusion wear is the way to go. This week You! has a list of trends and ideas that you can follow to put together the perfect outfit...

When there are parties and get-togethers lined-up, it is obvious that everyone wants to wear something different and trendy. A contemporary fashion that is getting popularity in recent times is fusion wear. It is a total saviour, especially when you are stuck in a fashion rut and need a touch of that extra something’ in your simple outfits. The Indo-Western fusion or the Western Ethnic fusion has been one of the biggest and most versatile fashion trends (and the best, in our opinion), ever since it started ages ago. Also, when you are trying to stand out and make a statement instead of going mundane, the fusion look is definitely the route you want to take. And if you are stuck trying to figure out what you should mix and match, here are some useful fashion tips and trends that you can follow through...

The perfect blend

Offbeat dressing is what you should be looking at to ace your festive look the right way from modest midi dresses with a hint of silver, embroidery work and prints, to an elegant, embellished shirt that can give everyone a run for their money. When it comes to the dress material, you can pair things up in a different way. Silks, cottons, khaddar and lawn can be mixed and matched with stylish cuts and motifs. This is the most chic way to start this season on a fresh note.

Opt for a smart look, with cigarette pants, especially in materials that will fit like a glove.

Effortlessly gorgeous!

Go for pieces which can make you look trendy, classy and effortlessly chic at the same time. They are easy to carry off with comfortable silhouettes, pastel and bright colours, tassel and pom-pom embellishments. They can be your best go-to outfits this season. Just pair a statement necklace on solids and eye-catching earrings with prints to maintain a subtle balance between your looks.

The play of pants

For those who are a little sceptical about their outfit and want to play it safe, one can always experiment with pants along with basic plain shirts to go with them. Dhoti pants, cigarette, boot-cut, overlap culottes and bell bottoms are always a rage and come in beautiful bright festive colours and are the epitome of comfort dressing. Just throw a bold statement pair of earrings to go with your look and you are good to go.

Accessorise right...

The ethnic attires are incomplete if not accessorised with alluring jewellery such as gold and tassels. Go easy on gold and try for the fusion jewellery that can make you look classy and stylish. Go for the oxidised metallic jewellery that will enhance your dress, or a coloured tasselled piece that would look chic and stylish with halter or V-necks.

Team up smartly

Mix and match according to your body type. A-line shirts, capes, kaftaans and short shirts look great on tall women, and flowing shirts look nice on petite ones. One can also wear a bright long kurti with a soothing coloured palazzo accompanied or a short slit kurta with dhoti.

Makeup and hairstyle hacks

Wear your makeup to complement your outfit. If your clothes are subtle, brighten up with dark eye shadow and lip colours. Or add a pop of cheeriness to your look with a bright pink lip colour. Try different hairstyles that match your look. However, sexy slicked back hair is the current favourite and an evergreen go-to look.

Wear your confidence all day, every day

They say that ‘confidence is the best fashion accessory’ and it is rightly said. If you want to make an outfit work, be confident and fall in love with your look. Make comfort your priority and do not over do anything. Sometimes it is best to go with the ‘less is more’ philosophy. When choosing a style, make sure it complements you the best and at the same time makes you feel great!
