The list, which is compiled based on global online voting, ranks Mahira as 10th in the popular category. Number one, however, is Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra, who recently took US television by storm with her thrilling series Quantico in which she plays a FBI trainee under suspicion for a terrorist attack. While Priyanka has won the title for the second time in a row, Mahira is a new entrant on the annual list, published regularly for almost a decade now.
Mahira is currently riding high on the success of Bin Roye, which is still running in select theatres in the UK and the UAE, and is busy promoting her upcoming Pakistani venture Ho Mann Jahaan, due to release on January 1st. But it is Mahira’s Bollywood debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Raees, which is scheduled for an Eid release next year, which has put her on the global map and has her fans excited.
The full list which was published on Friday also featured Pakistani model Mehreen Syed on the 38th position while Bollywood’s current sensation Deepika Padukone was ranked 4th.
“What continues to make this list really special is the strong presence of ‘real women’ who the public can relate to. Most fans look at the all-round qualities of those they are voting for and that is why more women than men vote annually,” Editor of Eastern Eye Entertainment, Asjad Nazir, said on the popularity of the list.
