The Koblumpi Music Festival heads to Islamabad

After a successful first iteration of The Koblumpi Music festival in Lahore in cold, hard December with Mekaal Hasan having joined hands with Mehreen Rana of Origami, in partnership with Lotus PR, Koblumpi is heading to Islamabad with the announcement coming from Instagram.

Confirmed dates include February 9, with performing artists including super popular acts such as Saakin, Sikandar Ka Mandar, Haniya Aslam, Karakoram, Maanu, Takatak, Ali Suhail, Natasha Noorani and Poor Rich Boy.

In its previous Lahore edition, Koblumpi hosted a number of artists including Mekaal Hasan Band, Ali Noor, Keeray Makoray, Abdullah Siddiqui, Cosmic Fluid, Ali Suhail, Shorbanoor and many more - with a strong focus on original music.

As Mekaal Hasan told Instep in a telephonic conversation, Koblumpi is a made-up name and though open to having partners, they do not wish to give away the title to a brand. All performing artists are playing for free - with tickets available at the gate. The difference is that like its Lahore edition, in the Islamabad edition, the artists will be performing mostly, if not completely, original music, setting the festival apart from several others.

As festival chief Mekaal Hasan said in an earlier statement, “The Koblumpi Music Festival seeks to present the freshest talent and outpouring of creative thought from independent artists across Pakistan. The festival will focus on presenting original music by new as well as established artists whose creative vision is one of pushing boundaries and creating new waves in entertainment and music.”
