Last month we reported that writer and director Aziz Jindani’s animated film, The Donkey King, which released last year in Pakistan, became the first ever Pakistani film to release in South Korea. After doing decent business at the South Korean box office, recent reports suggest that the animation production will release in Spain next month.

“I am delighted that The Donkey King, after ruling Pakistan and conquering Korea, is set to become Pakistan’s first film ever to have theatrical release in Spain and Catalonia on October 4, 2019,” Aziz Jindani shared in a recent interview with Entertainment Pakistan.

Jindani furthered that, in order to cater to a larger audience, the film is dubbed in 3 native languages including Spanish, Catalan and Basque.

“Plan is to have more than 50 screens on release day across all key cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla, Malaga, etc.,” informed the writer-director.

Released under the banner of Geo Films, political satire The Donkey King collected a whopping Rs. 24.75 crores at the local box office after running in cinemas for 25 weeks. The film follows the story of a donkey, named Mangu, who becomes king by chance, while it features voiceovers by Jan Rambo, Ismail Tara, Hina Dilpazeer, Ghulam Mohiuddin and Jawed Sheikh.

Earlier this year Aziz Jindani also shared that he’s trying to unlock other international markets apart from South Korea and now Spain. Let’s wait and see where The Donkey King is headed to next.
