The two-month long journey of Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 4 came to an end with a finale this weekend. After weeks of stress, anxiety, nervousness, hard work and a spirit of competition, the final battle came down to music groups Auj and Aarish, with the former picking up the trophy.

The Karachi based Auj won the season and received a check worth PKR 50 lacs, in addition to an album contract and lifetime royalties of the original songs performed during the recently concluded season. Runners up, Aarish, on the other hand, took home PKR 25 lacs along with an album contract as a reward for their consistent efforts and hard work.

The final episode introduced us to families of the two bands while it traced back to their respective journeys so far; it was indeed a moment of pride.

In the final episode, the finalists took the grand blue stage and performed to an enthusiastic audience. However, there was a vast lineup of performances prior to the final act. Starting from ‘Dhaltay Rahay’ by Pepsi Battle of the Bands season two and three winners Kashmir and Bayaan, it was followed by artists Shahi Hasan, Qawwal Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad and others who also took the stage.

The night would not have been complete without the judges – including Meesha Shafi, Fawad Khan and Strings – and their performances. Meesha Shafi performed ‘Leela’; according to her, the word comes from Sanskrit and the poetry revolves around a conversation between a girl and the moon. Fawad Khan brought his old EP troupe, including Xulfi, back. They performed a song called ‘Jaag Musafir’ which narrated a conversation between an individual and time. Strings, on the other hand, introduced listeners to their new track, ‘Hum Aaye’ that they performed on the show.
