Jimmy Khan is one of those artists who may appear on Coke Studio from time to time but that has not kept him from making his own music, experimenting with original TV soundtrack as well as film songs.

But, in the upcoming and much talked about Asim Raza film, Parey Hut Love, which stars Sheheryar Munawar (who is also its co-producer) and Maya Ali as protagonists, Jimmy Khan, in addition to contributing to the soundtrack, which he admits is a completely different filmy song that he has never done before of this particular nature, is also acting. “I’m excited about the song.”

Speaking to Instep, Jimmy Khan notes that it’s more than a cameo. “They are all my film friends because I worked on Ho Mann Jahaan. We’ve gotten closer. So, they wanted me to do this particular character in the film, which doesn’t have a lot of screen time but I’m excited about it. I’ve shot it.”

Jimmy Khan says since he’s not an actor and was surrounded by talented actors, it was a little “nerve-wrecking” and being on a film set was a little “intimidating”.

“I’m a musician,” says Jimmy Khan. “I’m always hiding behind the guitar but it was fun and I am looking forward to it, whatever comes out of it.”As for Tich Button, after releasing an urban folk rendition of ‘Pyaar Naal’, Jimmy Khan will release his own versions of singles ‘Chan Kithan’ and ‘Kirkir’ by Sajjad Ali.

“’Chan Kithan’ is a very old folk tune,” explains Jimmy. “There is no artist that hasn’t performed it. The material is folk and artists have to recreate it every few years; that’s how we have ‘Chan Kithan’ and are able to access it because artists have covered it over the years. And that’s the point of folk. The point is for it to surface in different ways.”
