When celebrities come together for philanthropic activities, it certainly makes more impact on society especially when there is a need to raise funds and create awareness regarding important issues.
Earlier this year one of our favourite stars, Mahira Khan, was in Dubai to raise funds for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital (SKMH). Moreover, she previously took up the role of ambassador, along with Maya Ali and Sana Mir, for SKMH’s Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.
The actor is once again geared to lend her full support to the cause as she heads to the United States: San Francisco and Los Angeles on October 27 and October 28 respectively.
Mahira Khan will be attending fundraising gala dinner that aims to generate funds for Pakistan’s third Shaukat Khanum Hospital that is being built in Karachi. The actor recently announced the news on her official Twitter handle. “Coming to my SF and LA for @SKMCH! Hoping to see all of you there,” she wrote.
The actor was also in the news a few days back when she shared on social media that she got 11/15 on her breast cancer knowledge even though she “thought she knew all she could about breast cancer!”
Mahira Khan was trolled for her efforts to spread awareness regarding breast cancer, which is the most common type of cancer in females. However, the actor decided not to say quiet and responded, in the only way she could, to one particular trolling effort.
She noted: “It’s because of people like you women don’t even bother saying the word ‘breast’ let alone go for an examination,” before adding, “Why don’t you take the quiz, to be more aware for the women in your family and yourself (men can also get breast cancer).” Well done Mahira!
