We are just a week away from the release of Sanjay Dutt biopic, Sanju, in which Ranbir Kapoor will be essaying the role of the living legend and veteran Bollywood actor. While Ranbir has been receiving accolades from all ends for his epic portrayal of Sanjay Dutt in the teasers and trailer that have come out so far, we recently learnt that he wasn’t the first choice to play this rather controversial character. Instead, it was Ranveer Singh whom the film’s producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra wanted to cast.
Reflecting on Chopra’s statement in a recent interview with a tabloid, Ranbir Kapoor said, “I don’t know about his regrets and anything of that kind. But I am really happy that it came into my life. And it came into my life when I was really in need of inspiration. You know, it’s a luxury that every actor finds inspiration in every film they do. This came with that. So, I am very happy that it came into my life.”
The upcoming biopic is scheduled to release on June 29 and chronicles the life of Sanjay Dutt including the controversies, scandals and other affairs that formulate his life history. Aside from Ranbir, the film features an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles.
