Lahore Literary Festival to commence from February 24

The sixth edition of the annual Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) is all set to begin on February 24. Scheduled to take place at the Alhamra Arts Centre, the two-day festival boasts of an impressive line-up of speakers. The sixth edition of the annual Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) is all set to begin on February 24. Scheduled to take place at the Alhamra Arts Centre, the two-day festival boasts of an impressive line-up of speakers. Among them is journalist and novelist David Ignatius, historian Audrey Truschke, Booker-winner Ben Okri, activist and urban theorist Arif Hasan, British-Pakistani food writer Sumayya Usmani, Iranian artist and curator Vali Malhouji, Urdu poet and scholar Iftikhar Husain, feminist poet Kishwar Naheed, Somali-British novelist Nadifa Mohamed, short-story writer and critic Aamer Hussein and award-winning Iraqi poet and novelist Sinan Antoon.

The upcoming edition will also feature Dastangoi and an evening with Zia Mohyeddin on ‘Why Shakespeare is Shakespeare’.

LLF 2018 will also feature a keynote address from Dr. Azra Raza, who co-authored Ghalib: Epistemologies of Elegance with author and Yale professor Sara Suleri and Chan Soon-Shiong, Professor of Medicine and Director of Myelodysplastic Syndrome Center at Columbia University.

According to Ahmed Rashid who is the best-selling author of Taliban: Militant Islam, Oil and Fundamentalism in Central Asia and also one of the organizers of LLF, this year’s program will be riveting just like past editions where world-class speakers will deliberate on the critical issues of the day in a big-picture way.

Lahore Literary Festival, since its debut edition in 2013, not only engages students and citizens across the country but also features artists, writers and celebrated thinkers, from Pakistan and abroad, in vibrant discussions across a range of themes.

Past attendees include names like Vikram Seth, Hari Kunzru, Intizar Hussain, William Dalrymple, Teju Cole, Mira Nair, Abdullah Hussein and many more.
