Adeel Hussain comes across as one of the most talented actors in the new age of Pakistani cinema, something we witnessed in Asim Raza’s Ho Mann Jahaan (earlier this year) and in the recently released Mehreen Jabbar film, Dobara Phir Se. With a number of remarkable performances in multiple TV serials and two films under his belt, he’s one true star that the local film industry can count on in the coming years.

In his latest interview with BBC Urdu, Hussain talks about things that matter to him the most and he would take a stand for. When asked if there are any social causes that are close to his heart, the actor responded, “My scripts and the directorial work that I’m doing. For me, the best way to spread social messages is through my work. I don’t want to be known as an activist, I want to be known as a storyteller.”

Hussain also noted that these days people hijack you a lot. They think if you don’t speak upon an issue, you don’t care about it. “A common assumption is that if you haven’t uploaded anything, you don’t have a heart,” he shared. “If I don’t wish Eid Mubarak, it means I have locked myself in the room all alone and living in hatred,” he concluded sarcastically.

We hear you Adeel, and we totally feel where you’re coming from!
