LODHRAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), leader Jehangir Tareen wins NA-154 Lodhran with a clear margin against Pakistan Muslim League-N’s candidate Siddique Khan Baloch, according to unofficial and unverified results for Wednesday’s by-election

Jehangir Tareen secured 129,606 votes while the runner-up Siddique Khan Baloch of PML-N received 93,183 votes.

Later, Jehangir Tareen, while addressing a gathering of PTI activists celebrating his win, said the voters of Lodhran were offered money by the rivals in exchange for their votes but they turned it down.

Thanking the people of Lodhran, he said now Lodhran will be put on a path to progress.

Jehangir Tareen said today's vote is a clear indication that N-League's sun has begun to set.

Earlier today, polling for by-election in the National Assembly constituency NA-154 Lodhran-I which started at 8 AM concluded at 5 PM.

Twenty candidates including Siddique Khan Baloch of PML-N and Jahangir Khan Tarin of PTI are in the run for NA seat.

The seat fell vacant after Baloch had been disqualified by an election tribunal on August 26 on a petition filed by Tareen, who had accused the former of possessing a fake educational degree and committing massive irregularities during the 2013 general elections.

The Supreme Court, however, set aside the tribunal’s decisions and ordered re-election, allowing Siddique Baloch to take part in the by-polls.

A total of 303 polling stations were set up for today’s polls; out of which six polling stations were declared most sensitive and 41 sensitive.

Strict security arrangements were made to avert any untoward incident.

The total number of registered voters in NA-154 stood at about 419,183 out of which 228,870 were males and 190,312 females.
